It Will Pass

En Extraordinary Journey of a Midwife

By Sri Astuti

Hi everyone, welcome back to my blog. Hopefully you all stay healthy ya. This time I write about my journey during my experience as a midwife.

After graduated from Diploma Education in 2015, I worked at one of private clinic belonged to Obgyn Doctor. Becoming a midwife is not as easy as thought by most people. There are fun things and there are also difficult things. In the beginning of my work, it was difficult for me to wake in the middle of the night if there was patient coming to give a birth. Time by time then I could get used to the work hour rythm of a midwife that cannot be predicted. For me becoming a midwife gives me a chance to be closer to understanding that woman is unique.

In the beginning I was so rigid when serving the patient but then because of the guidance from the colleague at work I became more experience and faster to adapt. Normal labor is a most waited moment by a pregnant woman. In here needed a midwife as the helper of labor and also as a companion who guide the woman to understand her need to feel comfortable and relaxed during the labor.

When helping the labor I saw and felt how a woman truly fight for making the chance to meet her son that was in her womb for 9 months. I saw many pregnant women who in the beginning they felt that they could not pass the normal labor process but then they had the strength, spirit, pray, and support from the family until they finally could went through it. This experience made me love my mother even more because I realized her struggle when delivering me. This was the photo when I helped the labor. I took a photo with the newborn baby of my patient.

O, I almost forget. Let me introduce you my boss. I am so grateful to have a good and kindhearted boss. During my experience becoming his employee, I learned and absorbed many things especially about patience and leadership. I must thank he because of giving me the leave during my time finishing education at this Diploma IV education. This photo was taken a few moments ago when I asked for permission because I could not continue working there because I had plan to continue my study again after this Diploma IV is done.

Actually whatever our job is, there will be good things and difficult things about it. It all depends on how we face it and I think no matter how heavy the problem that we encounter, it will pass and we only need to do the best we can. Do not be far from Allah ya, you will miss him. Keep your chin up, friends. Thank you for reading my writing. See you next time ❤
